Trina Hester Trina Hester
Associate General Manager, Development & Grants

Trina Hester is the Associate General Manager, Development & Grants at KPBS. She serves on KPBS' management council and charts the course for the organization's philanthropic and foundation support. In her position, she builds strong relationships with donors and provides engagement opportunities that reach out into the communities of San Diego.

The development department focuses on key revenue areas including major gifts for special initiatives, reporting, and programming funds; planned giving that brings sustainability and a future for KPBS; and the KPBS Producers Club, the station's leadership giving program in support of general operations.

The diversity, engagement and grants department creates collaborative partnerships within the community and expands the reach of KPBS' educational programming. Foundation support provides essential resources for KPBS programming, the KPBS content desks, as well as community outreach projects such as One Book, One San Diego and the KPBS Kids workshop series. One Book is the station's largest engagement campaign comprised of over 100 annual events that reach English and Spanish-speaking readers of all ages throughout San Diego County and Tijuana. The KPBS Kids workshop series, in partnership with the San Diego Children's Discovery Museum, brings PBS children's programming to life through hands-on workshops and events.

Trina joined KPBS in 2009 and was a volunteer reader for the KPBS Radio Reading Service for 10 years. Prior to KPBS, she worked in major gifts and development for San Diego State University's College of Arts and Letters.

Trina has lived in San Diego for 26 years and is an alumna of Point Loma Nazarene University. She has three children and five grandchildren and enjoys the outdoors, hiking, swimming at the beach, bicycling, travel, movies and museums.
